Stonebriar Commercial Finance relaunched its SCF Business Aviation platform as SCF Aviation Capital with the expansion of its capabilities to include both commercial and business aviation.
Stonebriar named Kevin L. Brown vice president of Portfolio Management. Brown joined Stonebriar from CIT Group where he spent his entire 14-year career in its Business Aircraft Finance unit, most recently in the same position he now holds with Stonebriar.
Stonebriar has completed its acquisition of 16 loans from CIT, bringing the total Aviation Capital portfolio to 64 assets as of June 30, 2017. Brown will report to Nicholas M. Sandler, executive vice president and senior managing director of Stonebriar’s Aviation Capital platform.
Sandler stated: “Stonebriar is extremely pleased to welcome Kevin to the Aviation Capital team. Kevin’s experience in managing portfolios with exposure to multiple jurisdictions lines up with Aviation Capital’s goal and mandate to be a leading customized capital solutions provider to the diverse constituencies in both commercial and business aviation worldwide.”
“The Stonebriar team is excited to be launching into the commercial aviation market along with the addition of Kevin to support Aviation Capital’s growing portfolio. His experience and strong reputation are a perfect complement to our organization’s existing knowledge and expertise in corporate and commercial aviation finance,” stated Dave B. Fate, president and CEO of Stonebriar. “This is one more step to Stonebriar achieving its goal to become a well-diversified financing source in a broad array of industries.”
